Baffins kick-off a festive double-header with the visit of Dorset-based Bournemouth Poppies on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
The same fixture last term was originally postponed - but took place four days later on a tricky pitch in PO3.
Baffins cruised to a 5-1 victory with goals from James Cowan, Oscar Johnston, Craig McAllister, Jason Parish and Ed Sanders all finding the target at the PMC Stadium.
When the two sides met at Victoria Park during 2021/22, the outcome was more of the same - with Baffins venturing back from Dorset with a 3-0 victory; Cowan, Tommy Scutt and Billy Connor all finding the back of the net in a match where Danny Thompson was in touchline control.
This fixture will be Rovers’ first match since the 3-0 victory over Cowes Sports on Tuesday 6 December. The Island visitors remained compact for large periods of the PMC Stadium clash, before Steve Ramsey broke the deadlock from the penalty spot and Tom Vincent found the target on two ocassions to secure Baffins the points.
The Poppies sit 14th ahead of this Wessex Premier Division clash, after taking 18 points from their 19 league fixtures so far.
Despite that, Phil Brown’s side haven’t tasted victory since the 3-1 success against Blackfield & Langley back in September, picking up just three points in the Wessex League since - against Hamble Club, 0-0, Cowes Sports, 1-1, and Hythe & Dibden, 1-1.
Neemo Nixon, Joe Freak and Marcus Cullen are all tied on six goals in all competitions, and they lead the way for the Poppies.
Tickets for the Wessex Premier clash can only be purchased on the turnstiles and are priced £6 adults and £4 concessions. The £10 deal is available for this match, which includesl; entry, programme and a beer from the clubhouse.
